Guru Smt. Rani Sunil is a highly accomplished dancer, choreographer, and the inspiring founder of the School of Indian Dance in San Jose. Her journey began at the young age of four, learning under esteemed gurus including Kalamandalam Raji, Kalakshetra Sanal Kumar, and Regatta Girija Chandran.
Over the years, she has mesmerized audiences across India, the UAE, and the US, with captivating performances in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam. She has also appeared on leading Indian television networks such as Doordarshan, Asianet, and Sun TV, gaining widespread recognition for her expressive and powerful stage presence.
In 2010, her passion for Indian classical arts led her to establish the School of Indian Dance, with a mission to nurture cultural roots and inspire young dancers growing up outside India. As the Artistic Director, she continues to shape the next generation of performers through her disciplined yet compassionate teaching style.
Smt. Rani Sunil holds an MFA in Bharatanatyam (with honors) from Annamalai University and a Master’s degree in Psychology, bringing both artistic depth and emotional insight to her instruction.
In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with the 2024 FOG Women Empowerment Award and the Trailblazer Award by the Consulate General of India, celebrating her as a visionary in the global Indian arts community.
